WORKCAMPS IN BOLIVIA


In 2016 Oikos organises international workcamps in Bolivia in cooperation with the organization Red Tinku which is a volunteer organization that is working on several local projects since 1998. Its principles are self-management, social justice, reciprocity, solidarity, peace, pluriculturalism, human rights and the mother earth and bring greater opportunities for the marginalized and excluded.

 



 


GENERAL INFORMATION
 

The projects are open to volunteers 18 years old and above from all over the world.

All the travel costs and the visa are carried by the volunteers.

The official language of workcamps is Spanish.

The participation fee that includes the annual membership fee of Oikos is 130,00 euros and has to be paid, upon submission of application, through bank transfer addressed to the cultural association OIKOS on the cc 14042.46 - Code IBAN: IT 10 I01030 03215 000001404246 -  BIC SWIFT: PASCITM1R15 with the payment description "amount for workcamp ".

The workcamp fee (which includes room and board) depends on the project and it has to be paid to the project coordinator after the arrival.

PROJECT DESCRIPTION

 

TINKU 01 AGROECOLOGIA FERTILITY OF CORN AND CULTURE PACHAMAMA 02.06.15 - 13.06.15

PROJECT DESCRIPTION : In June the habitants of the Andes mountains of Bolivia begin to prepare the land for crops. In Cochabamba and elsewhere in June we celebrate the Festival Fertility Pachamama (Mother Earth ) with rituals of appreciation, respect and reciprocity. In this context the Red Tinku also prepare the ground to celebrate the future agroecological projects for the international volunteers and local people. d

ACTIVITIES: Volunteers will work in the farmlands and orchards. In the agricultural project we prepare for the fertility of the soil (Pachamama), also we visit different projects like:  the Eco- social center " Mama Juana ", " Sara Yaku " and the rural community of Potrero ( land preparation, fertilize the soil , etc. ). Moreover we will get to know Quillacollo, Tarata and the countryside to enjoy some of the local dishes and drinks.

LOCATION: The project is located in the Central Region of Cochabamba and accessed by the city of Cochabamba. 

ACCOMMODATION: Volunteers will stay at the Eco Centre - Social " Mama Juana" and the "La Tinkuna" Center located in the city of Cochabamba. 

PARTICIPATION FEE: 200  Euros


TINKU 02 ORGANIC GARDENING AND BATH WITH IN " SARA YAKU " 1 15.06.15 - 27.06.15

PROJET DESCRIPTION : The ecological center " Sara Yaku " is a project of the newly built Red Tinku located in the semi -rural area . It is under implementation and adaptation to bring forward the ecological center. With this project we want to implement a composting toilet and expand the garden center.

ACTIVITIES: Preparation and plant of an organic gardening. Construction of an ecological dry toilet. River Cleanup and recycling waste. Support Kids School.

LOCATION : It is located in the town of Vinto, 15 km From the city of Cochabamba. It is a semi -rural area. Volunteers will be accommodated in the same ecological center " Sara Yaku " Vinto , with rooms to stay and camping .

PARTICIPATION FEE: 220  Euros


TINKU 03 ECO- SOCIAL CENTER " MAMA JUANA " 1

PROJECT DESCRIPTION : It is a new project of the Red Tinku opened in January of 2014 that functions as an eco- social and cultural center in Villa Busch , West Zone of Cochabamba , on the outskirts of the city. It has a public library and a hostel for volunteers. The project aims to sensitize the local population on issues of waste and promoting home garden environments between neighbours. 

ACTIVITIES : Raise awareness through campaigns to recycle and reuse waste. Build a room with organic material. Environmental education for children and school support. Work In the Organic Community Garden. Tours and visits to the countryside community " POTRERO " to assist in an ecological project .

LOCATION: The project is located on the outskirts of the city of Cochabamba. In Villa Busch , popular Cochabamba area 15 minutes from the city center .

ACCOMMODATION : Volunteers will be accommodated in the same Eco- Social Center " Mama Juana" which features a small shelter for volunteers.

PARTICIPATION FEE: 200 Euros


TINKU 04 ECOLOGICAL BUILDING CENTER " POTRERO WASI " 1

PROJET DESCRIPTION : The Agro Ecological " Potrero Wasi " Center is a new project of the Red Tinku beginning in 2011 in the rural community of Potrero Quechua , rural area characterized by the production of vegetables, fruits, flowers and small farming . The current project continues to complete the first eco-lodge and improves organic gardening. The project has great potential for being in an area of smallholder farmers willing to share experiences with the Volunteers. Also the second part of the construction with circulate material Inca place (adobe, stone) will be completed. Also build a clay oven and improve the organic garden. Some volunteers in the evenings to give educational support and games to the children of the school community . Volunteers also in their free time can easily reach the forest at the foot of the mountain Machu Tunari and enjoy the nature of the vallunos Andes.

LOCATION: The center is located in the rural community of Potrero to 18 km from the city of Cochabamba, at the foot of the mountainous Cordillera del Tunari . It has a beautiful location by the panorama of the valley of Cochabamba.

ACCOMMODATION: Volunteers will be staying at the headquarters of the Union of Agricultural Potrero and Ecological Center " Sara Wasi " Vinto , located a few kilometers from the Wok Camp .

TINKU 05

MEETING OF ART, CULTURE AND ALTERNATIVE TOURISM
"PACHAMAMA TINKU"

PROJET DESCRIPTION : In August, the city of Cochabamba and Quillacollo have a socio-cultural activity. For this reason the Red Tinku organizes meetings and cultural events in places and alternative spaces, such as plazas, cultural centers and on the street. This year 2016 we will organize the International Art and Culture " Pachamama Tinku " to promote popular culture in alternative spaces. 

ACTIVITIES : Assist in the organization of the conference and the meeting of Art, Culture and Tourism. Promotion and dissemination of cultural events. Promotion of Cultural and alternative tourist areas of Cochabamba. Participation in the traditional festival of Urkupiña. Logistical support to Cultural events. Participation of traditional Tinku Tours Alternative Community for areas near Cochabamba to enjoy the nature and interact with the local population. 

LOCALATION: City and municipality of Cochabamba Quillacollo .

ACCOMMODATION : Volunteers will be accommodated in the Cultural Center " La Tinkuna " of the city of Cochabamba.

PARTICIPATION FEE: 250 Euros


TINKU 06 Historical City of Sucre – WHV PATRIMONITO UNESCO 17.08.16 - 30.08.16

PROJET DESCRIPTION : The Historic City of Sucre is the capital of Bolivia, was the first city to give "The first cry for freedom in America" during the Spanish colonial era, many final events in the history of the liberation and independence of Bolivia and South America took place in this city; found in this city is found in an atmosphere of history.
It is an important historical world heritage center, whose structures and well-preserved buildings testify to the events that happened here.
Sucre is a living city, whose agricultural and agricultural biodiversity allows you to food self-sufficiency.
One feature that draws attention is that Sucre is a city where people converge dwellers and indigenous people, many of them skilled craftsmen along with a cultural richness that need to encourage meeting points, WHV is a project that gives the opportunity to work in sustainable short- and long-term relationships.

ACTIVITIES: Sensitize the local population , authorities, youth groups, international volunteers, about the cultural value of this heritage site and the need to protect biodiversity around it. Facilitate mutual learning between volunteers and local people about basic tools of prevention and heritage conservation and biodiversity around the site using non-formal education. Facilitate , bridges and communication spaces and meeting local organizations , young people, local people , authorities and institutions , with the rural population living around the heritage site , with the goal of building long-term relationships that enable sustainability heritage protection and biodiversity.Socialize information about the cultural heritage of the Historical City of Sucre and the importance of conservation of the site and surrounding biodiversity , alternative development , workshops and fairs for the local community. Visit to a traditional agricultural setting Farm. Education in the Environmental Care , Historical, Social, Historical Value of the heritage. Intercultural meeting.

TINKU 07 TINKU SOCIAL TOURS, CULTURAL AND EDUCATION IN BOLIVIA CHILE   "INTEGRATION OF PEOPLE WITH SEA TO BOLIVIA 6.09.16 - 18.09.16

PROJET DESCRIPTION: The project is a Social and Cultural Tour of brotherhood and integration among the peoples of Bolivia and Chile. It is a Solidarity Tour Bolivia and its right of access to Mar.

ACTIVITIES: Visit popular organizations, social centers, public libraries and social movements in Santiago and Valparaiso (Chile) for interviews, seminars, reports, photographs, etc on the current social situation in Chile. Another topic will hear opinions on the proposal for Mar to Bolivia.
Participate in Conference on Human Rights to be held in Chile this September.

LOCATION: Region of Cochabamba. Accessed by the city of Cochabamba.

ACCOMMODATION: Volunteers will stay at the Centre - Social "La Tinkuna" Center located in the city of Cochabamba, Bolivia and Santiago, Valparaiso, Chile.  

PARTICIPATION FEE: 280 Euros (Includes tickets to Santiago, Valparaiso, Chile)


TINKU 08 MEETING BY THE SUMMER SOLSTICE KOLLASUYU - AYMARA BOLIVIA AND THE AREA OF NORTHERN CHILE 14.12.16 - 22.12.16

PROJET DESCRIPTION :  In the month of December in the Andean Culture Millennial Party celebrates summer solstice .
A very important month in the peasant agricultural cycle that starts rainy season in the Andes.
It is in this context that the Red Tinku participates annually preparedness events and dissemination of Community Meetings and young Kollasuyu that is culturally shared between southern Peru , Bolivia and northern Chile and Argentina . This year the event will be held in the Aymara region of Arica , Chile .  

ACTIVITIES : Volunteers prepare events toward the meeting. They may also participate in the preparation and celebration of the Summer Solstice. They will participate in the Annual Meeting of Communities and Kollasuyu youth to be. Tours and visits to the countryside community " POTRERO " to assist in ecological project . Contacts with indigenous social movements in South America.

LOCATION : City of Cochabamba and northern Chile, Iquique.

TINKU 09 SOCIO-CULTURAL DAYS IN WATER PLAZA 1 01.01.17 - 10.01.17

PROJET DESCRIPTION : Cochabamba has its central plaza "September 14 " that since the Water War of 2000 is characterized by various social and cultural activities. It is in this context that the Red Tinku is active in the " Plaza del Agua " exposing information, education , holding exhibitions , fairs and festivals Film , poetry , books , educational workshops, film forum , etc panels . This year in August the Square "September 14 " receive hundreds of visitors through the summer and HOLIDAY is a good opportunity to demonstrate the cultural and participatory potential of the people in the square.

ACTIVITIES : Volunteers will support logistics to develop cultural events in the square. Propagandized activities did advertise events and visiting media. Participate in the organization of cultural activities to be carried every day in full central plaza " September 14 ".

LOCATION AND ACCOMMODATION : The project is located in the center of the city of Cochabamba and is the main square of Volunteers will be accommodated in the Social Center " La Tinkuna " located west of the city of Cochabamba and 15 minutes from the central square " September 14 " .

PARTICIPATION FEE: 180   Euros


TINKU 10 ECO- SOCIAL CENTER "MAMA JUANA ” 2 11.01.17 - 20.01.16

TINKU 11 STRENGTHEN ING THE ECOLOGICAL CENTER " POTRERO WASI " 2 21.01.17 - 31.03.17

PROJET DESCRIPTION : The Agro Ecological " Potrero Wasi " Center is a new project of the Red Tinku beginning in 2011 in the rural community of Potrero Quechua , rural area characterized by the production of vegetables, fruits and flowers and small farming . The project has great potential to be in an area of small farmers who are willing to learn and share experiences.

ACTIVITIES : Work is continuing to improve organic gardening.
Volunteers completed the second part of the construction of the Inca organic cottage with local materials (adobe, stone, wood).
Volunteers also work with educational support and games for children of the school community. The volunteers in their spare time can visit the forest at the foot of the mountain Machu Tunari and enjoy nature in the Andes. 

LOCATION : The center is located in the rural community of Potrero to 18 km from the city of Cochabamba, at the foot of the mountainous Cordillera del Tunari . It has a beautiful location by the panorama of the valley of Cochabamba.

ACCOMMODATION: Volunteers will be accommodated in the Cultural Center " La Tinkuna " city of Cochabamba has a hostel for travelers, in the " Sara Yaku”, Vinto and some days camped in Potrero Center .

TINKU 12 STRENGTHEN ING SOCIAL ECOLOGICAL CENTER " SARA YAKU " 2 01.02.17 - 15.02.17

PROJET DESCRIPTION: The ecological center " Sara Yaku " is a project of the newly built Red Tinku located in the semi -rural area of the municipality of Vinto . Continued implementation stage and suitability to bring up the Ecological implementing organic gardening center , public library and rooms for workshops on waste recycling and the environment.

ACTIVITIES  : Preparing and planting organic vegetable garden. Construction of a clay oven. Reforestation and cleaned the Ch'ulla River. Painted Murals and Signage Center Site. School Support and educational games for school children. Guided walk and cleaning Ecological Park and the farm Pairumani Simon I. Patiño and other places to learn about the culture and nature.

LOCATION : It is located in the town of Vinto to 15 km from the city of Cochabamba. It is a semi -rural area.

ACCOMMODATION: Volunteers will be accommodated in the " Sara Yaku " Vinto ecological center, which has to stay and camping spaces .

PARTICIPATION FEE: 200 Euros


TINKU 13 DAYS OF ART, CULTURE AND ALTERNATIVE TOURISM IN CARNIVAL 16.02.17 - 28.02.17

PROJECT DESCRIPTION : At the end of February and early March for carnival and summer vacation, the city of Cochabamba and its suburbs have a lot of socio-cultural activity. For this reason the Red Tinku organizes meetings and cultural events and visits to places and alternative spaces . For the summer holidays in February 2016 we organize Days of Art and Popular Culture and community tourism alternative to consolidate new alternative spaces looking interculturality and interaction with the local population.

 ACTIVITIES : Assist in the organization of the days of Art, Culture and Tourism alternative community . Promotion and dissemination of cultural events. Promotion of Cultural and alternative tourist areas of Cochabamba. Participation in the popular pre- Carnival party. Logistical support to Cultural events. Participation of traditional Tinku Tours Alternative Community for areas near Cochabamba to enjoy nature and interact with the local population. Tours the Carnival of Oruro ( world heritage site ) and other locations .

LOCATION AND ACCOMMODATION: Volunteers will be accommodated in the Cultural Center " La Tinkuna " city of Cochabamba has a youth hostel in the city of Oruro.

PARTICIPATION FEE: 250 Euros
