WORKCAMPS IN CAMEROUN
Oikos organises in 2010 international workcamps in Cameroon in cooperation with the association UAC (United Action for Children). The activity of UAC is concentrated in the south-west of Cameroon. UAC has been created in 1996 with the aim of sustaining deprived children (orphans, disabled, provenient from poor families).

GENERAL INFORMATION
The projects are open to the volunteers over 18 years old from all over the world.
All the travel costs are carried by the volunteers.
The language of the workcamp is English.
The participation fee that includes the annual adheration fee of Oikos is 100,00 euros and has to be paid by a bank transfer destinated to the cultural association Oikos at the moment of the application.
The workcamp fee that includes food and accomodation during your stay in Cameroon is 183,00 euros per 2 weeks and 270,00 euros per 3 weeks and has to be paid to the camp-coordinator on arrival in Cameroon.
NB: Volunteers are at all times required to bring their own sleeping bags when coming to the camps.

UAC1 Tinto Open dates
LOCATION: Tinto village is located in the south-west of Cameroon where extremely poor families live. The local population lives mainly by farming and small commercies. They live without care for environment, pit-latrines and women cook in unventilated kitchens. The villages are characterized with poor drainage systems, absence of pipe borne water. All these have contributed to the numerous health problems that the people face. The aim of the worlcamp is to reduce or to solve such problems.
WORK: The volunteers will be involved to do the following work: to construct 30 pit latrines, to construct a fence round the village Health Centre, to clear water ways, to construct drainage racks, to develop ventilation by construct windows on kitchens, to construct shades in the village market, to organise every evening short leisure ativities for children, to construct roofing of village school.
ACCOMMODATION: The volunteers will be accomodated by the local families. 3 meals by day will be available.

UAC2 Nchemba II Open dates LOCATION: Nchemba village is located in the south-west of Cameroon where extremely poor families live. The local population lives mainly by farming and small commercies. They live without care for environment, pit-latrines and women cook in unventilated kitchens. The villages are characterized with poor drainage systems, absence of pipe borne water. All these have contributed to the numerous health problems that the people face. The aim of the worlcamp is to reduce or to solve such problems.
WORK: The volunteers will be involved to do the following work: construction of twenty pit latrines, digging of 04 bore holes, clearing of water ways, construction of draining racks, construction of drainage systems, ventilation of kitchens.
ACCOMMODATION: The volunteers will be accomodated by the local families. 3 meals by day will be available.

All these have contributed to the numerous health problems that the people face. The aim of the worlcamp is to reduce or to solve such problems.
WORK: The volunteers will be involved to do the following work: construction of 20 pit latrines, contruction of 05 boreholes, completion of the village town hall, construction of draining racks, ventilation of kitchen.
ACCOMMODATION: The volunteers will be accomodated by the local families. 3 meals by day will be available.

All these have contributed to the numerous health problems that the people face. The aim of the worlcamp is to reduce or to solve such problems.
WORK: The volunteers will be involved to do the following work: assist the local staff in all that goes on at the village Health Centre, in collaboration with the local staff organize health talks, study the living environment and health habits of the people that expose them to diseases, seek to reduce the heavy reliance on traditional healers, address the issue of sanitation, clean water, and improved nutrition, rekindle the hopes of the people towards the health centre, help to develop a self reliant health communities, help to develop cost effective and reproductive programs.

UAC7 Molyko-Buea Open dates LOCATION: Molyko-Buea village is located in the south-west of Cameroon where extremely poor families live. The villages are characterized with poor drainage systems, absence of pipe borne water. All these have contributed to the numerous health problems that the people face. The aim of the worlcamp is to reduce or to solve such problems.
WORK: The volunteers will be involved to do the following work: organise English teaching classes and leisure activities in English for children, assist in the revision and improvement of curriculum, organise leisure activities such as games, sports, shows, painting, computer classes, and photo exhibition, help in the feeding of children and cleaning of school, help to organize art work concerts, drama, and culture days, help to organize and prepare teaching materials for children.

WORK: The volunteers will be involved into the construction of Jamadianle Nursery/Primary School.
ACCOMMODATION: The volunteers will be accomodated by the local families. 3 meals by day will be available.
