OIKOS is a no-profit volunteering organization founded in
1979 to protect and to study the environment. Oikos works in Italy and abroad on
environmental problems in the big cities and on defense and reintegration of mediterranean
forest. Oikos staff is composed of experts in various fields and volunteers participating
at work camps. Much of the work is focused on communication. OIKOS on the INTERNET wants
to provide information to users, also giving detailed answer by e-mail, privately or in
public telematic conferences.
Since 1979 OIKOS organises
work camps with the aim of protecting wide
areas of Mediterranean Forest in the South-West of Rome.
OIKOS is involved in the European Voluntary Service pilot action
as both hosting and sending project.
